TREATMENT OPTIONS

  • The Anxiety and Behavioral Health Clinic offers cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and related conditions. Decades of scientific research, including large-scale clinical trials with thousands of patients, have demonstrated that CBT significantly reduces or eliminates symptoms of anxiety. CBT is conducted in both individual and group format. Treatment typically involves 10-20 weekly sessions approximately an hour long each.

See Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies for more information about evidence-based practices and cognitive behavioral therapy.

  • If you are interested in receiving treatment, please contact us to participate in a brief phone interview. If it seems that our services will meet your needs, you will be scheduled for a more thorough, in-person diagnostic assessment conducted by one of our anxiety specialists. The fee for the in-person assessment is $100. In addition to standard treatment, you may receive information about research participation options, which may include receiving free or low-cost treatments. The cost of each standard treatment session is determined on a sliding fee scale, based on income.  We do not accept insurance. In some cases intensive, outpatient treatment programs can be designed for motivated clients who do not live in the Tallahassee area. To learn more about some of our research participation options, please visit our Current Studies page located under the Research section.

ADDITIONAL TREATMENT

Social Anxiety Group Treatment
We are currently recruiting members for a social anxiety disorder group. The group treatment will include key elements of empirically-supported cognitive behavioral therapy for social anxiety, which focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which thoughts and behaviors, particularly avoidance, maintain social anxiety. The group will meet once a week for approximately 12 weeks and fee rates are based on our sliding scale. If you are eighteen years of age or older and interested in group treatment for social anxiety, please contact our clinic for more information.
